SALON TODAY talked to David Manske, Midwest Software Engineer for Salon Suite Accounting, who recently built a straight-forward accounting tool for small business salon stylists. With the help from his mother, a salon stylist, the initial product started as a simple excel spreadsheet and evolved to what it is today. Read about the service below.

Can you describe what Salon Suite Accounting is?
Salon Suite Accounting is an online accounting tool that allows salon stylists/nail techs to track their weekly profits and expenses in a quick, hassle free view of the week.

What are the features in the program?
Stylists that sign up for a Salon Suite Accounting subscription are able to manage their financial bookkeeping throughout the week using the online software. The software keeps track of services, tips, expenses, and merchandise sales, Saturday through Sunday. The financial data that stylists enter is secure and safely backed-up. Lastly, the stylist can view reports on monthly/yearly revenues or expenses to see how they've performed.

What are the benefits for a salon that uses this software?
Salon Suite Accounting has been proven by stylists to increase reliaiblity in their bookkeeping, provide safety and security for their financial data, and ultimately save time each week.

How many salons around the nation are using it currently?
There are currently six salons that are using it in the Midwest. The software is geared toward personal salon suite owners, one stylist owning or renting his/her own chair.

How much does it cost?
Salon Suite Accounting has a free 14 day trial and it costs $75 for a fiscal year subscription, which means the software is good for this year up to and including this year's tax preparation time.

Anything you would like to add?
A few years ago my mother, a salon suite owner, asked me to build a simple spreadsheet for her to manage her services, tips, merchandise sales, and various expenses. Together we revised our product and built a great solution that can easily manage any stylist's business as well.
