Editorial concepts are a huge part of the DNA of R+Co. Throughout this collab with MODERN SALON, we invite you into the world of R+Co, showcasing some of our collaborators; a sneak peek into the projects we have planned for 2021; and a look at our launches, trend forecasting, community and education. This special-edition issue speaks to your interests—from how to curate a playlist (page 12) and techniques to take care of you (page 16), to trend forecasts and leadership strategies (page 26).

R+Co is a brand anchored in the history of hairdressing—although we’ve been on the market for just six years, our founders (get to know Howard McLaren on page 18), create the most iconic hair transformations in history, and set the trends of today.

It was important that, throughout this issue, we feature voices from our Collective of educators, as well as our extended family of contributors. From styling, color and cutting education, to business strategies and product development, R+Co’s collective approach unites category experts from different disciplines to truly create a superior line influenced by the best of the best.

Although, historically, the beauty industry has been very competitive, we think there’s more to be gained by working together and building community—that’s part of the reasoning why we named our affiliate program R+Co Love (learn more on page 28). Whether it’s reimagining your salon’s hours, to virtual consultations or offering your guests home delivery, the rule-breakers are the ones setting the stage for how the industry is evolving.
