Bellus Academy student Taylor Boulton took first prize at the academies' 2012 S.T.A.R. Competition.  Developed by Bellus Artistic Director Diego Raviglione and Maste rEducator Nick Berardi, the S.T.A.R. The lessons can be accessed online anytime using an iPad or iPhone, creating an on-demand educational resource for aspiring salon professionals.

Competitors showcased their talent using live models and were judged on both creative and technical aspects of their craft. Michael Gregory placed second and Christopher Neil Denyer took third prize.

“I’m a huge believer in competition,” says Raviglione.  “It trains students to know what it means to become a future leader in our industry.  We need people who have that drive—they don’t give into fear or anxiety—and who  are willing to expose themselves this way.  Also, with a competition you have to be completely dedicated and from the point at which you start to where you finish, you always improve.”
