On September 30th, Phorest President of North America Barry Quinn and two friends, Derm Farrell and Christopher McClean, will begin a challenging three-day trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal in North Africa to raise funds for HairToStay—a nonprofit that helps women undergoing chemotherapy access scalp cooling treatments that can prevent hair loss.

Quinn and his fellow trekkers have all been touched by cancer through the loss of loved ones or the ongoing illness of close family members, and they wanted to take on a challenge that reflects the strength and resilience cancer patients show every single day, while raising vital funds to help others face their own battles.

“We are proud to be fundraising for HairToStay, a charity dedicated to helping patients undergoing chemotherapy preserve their hair through scalp cooling,” Quinn says. “Hair loss is one of the most visible and emotionally difficult side effects of chemotherapy. Studies have shown that up to 8% of women consider refusing or delaying chemotherapy because they fear losing their hair. HairToStay helps remove the financial barriers to scalp cooling treatment, giving patients the opportunity to maintain their sense of identity, confidence, and privacy during one of the toughest times of their lives.”

In the months leading up to the climb, the trekkers will be hosting a variety of fundraising events through Philadelphia, encouraging their community to get involved.

Every donation—big or small—makes a difference. Support Quinn and the team here.
