With Upturn, Serious Business 2022 Promises an Energy Lift

As Neill Corporation’s Debra Neill Baker and Carol Augusto plan Serious Business 2022, which will be held in New Orleans January 16-17, their selection of speakers is carefully designed to give the audience of salon owners, managers and beauty pros an energy lift for the year ahead.

After close to two years of turmoil and uncertainty, salon owners are finally starting to catch their breath and look towards the future with a renewed sense hope. But often, moving forward and ascending to your full potential requires turning back to resolve the past.

“To move forward in your life and business, you first have to deal with and heal from grief,” says Debra Neill Baker, principal of Neill Corporation. “Then you can accept change and create innovation. It’s at that point you have the energy and mindset to build a new reality.”

Just as soil is upturned in a garden to promote vibrant growth, Neill’s Serious Business 2022: Upturn invites participants to uproot their challenges of the season for an ultimately fruitful and fulfilling energy lift.

Some of this year’s motivating speakers include:

David Whyte
As associate fellow at the University of Oxford, David Whyte is one of the few poets to take his perspective on creativity into the field of business. From literature to leadership, Whyte weaves poetry and commentary to illustrate how we can foster qualities of courage and engagement in salons.

Erin Kuhn
As president of Qnity, Erin Kuhn will be offering education traditionally missing in salons—financial literacy for service providers. Erin is deeply passionate about the power of education to help companies and individuals create behavior changes that lead to results, helping us all go from ‘knowing’ to doing to experience a greater level of financial success.

James Allan
As managing partner and strategy director at High Tide Creative, James helps business owners improve their customer engagement, focus their brand experience on the implicit good, and identify (and celebrate) the positive impact that their company brings to the world. He considers ‘brand’ to be a leading driver of culture, understanding, and a potential source of joy…sometimes in the most unexpected ways.

Garry Golden
As an academically trained futurist, Garry Golden teaches leaders and teams how to tap their inner futurists and develop the proper habits of mind to anticipate and lead change. Garry will share his insights on how we must respond to current and possible future changes.

Genein Letford
As an intercultural Creativity coach, Genein Letford’s training pushes leaders to inspire, revive and empower employees to connect, create and innovate beyond what they’ve ever imagined.
