Big Opening Day for Data-Driven Salon Summit
Relive the memories of a fascinating and fun welcome day for Data-Driven Salon Summit 2027 in Austin, Texas.
Thrivo Technologies launches the FIRST salon in the Metaverse this week at the Metaverse Fashion Week, inviting the industry to come celebrate the SALON TODAY 200 at a cocktail party.

If you’re read articles about the Metaverse and wondered what it’s all about, now is your opportunity to explore it during a beauty-forward event.
Thrivo Technologies Inc. recently announced the debut of the FIRST salon in the Metaverse at Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW), which will be held March 24-27. The salon, which will be located next to Dolce & Gabbana and Etro, bridges digital engagement with real life commerce. On Friday, March 25th, the Thrivo Salon will host a cocktail party to celebrate the SALON TODAY 200 (at 5 p.m./8 p.m./11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time) and all of the professional beauty industry. After attending the cocktail party, attendees are encouraged to explore Metaverse Fashion Week, attend their favorite runway shows and do some digital fashion shopping.
“Hair is an integral part of beauty and fashion so the choice to launch during Fashion Week was obvious, says LJ LuBow, founder and CEO of Thrivo. “We are passionate about opportunities for innovation in an industry that has been primarily bricks and mortar, with other disruptors cannibalizing the salon industry and putting stylists out of business. We want to change that but recognize that the salon as a concept needs to change too.”
LuBow continues, “We created technology that puts the artist at the center of the process but empowers them with a revolutionary ability to service clients online, in-salon and in-between visits. The metaverse is the perfect place to showcase the salon of the future.”
The floor above the Metaverse salon will feature an art gallery showcasing the work of innovative artists, including Dustin Rabin, who specializes in documentary-style images of rock musicians, and Caitlin Cronenberg and her unique NFT project "Feet and Eyes Guys."
Thrrivo built several patent pending technologies for the salon industry, including the latest Omni, a hardware and software platform that utilizes complex algorithms to intelligently preserve and seal client’s custom professional hair color, toners or treatments, keeping the mixture fresh for up to six months. This is necessary because the salon quality ingredients would otherwise spoil after mixing in less than 30 minutes.
“Salon clients’ preferences are changing and they want convenience and flexibility, often through digital and marketplace engagement,” says Marlo Kravetsky, COO. “73% of the hair color market is using at-home hair color. The Thrivo platform helps regain salon clients lost to the disruptors offering at-home color, while also converting the at-home color client to a salon client by enabling the customer to buy unique customized professional hair color from a salon online for the first time. By expanding the market share of salon small businesses, Thrivo is helping to preserve and grow the local, predominantly female labor force. That’s something that we care deeply about.”
Thrivo’s Omni platform now also enables salons to provide their clients with convenient patch testing at home prio to in-salon color appointments, protecting their clients as well as the salons’ ability to claim under liability insurance policies.
“At the end of the day, we succeed when the salons succeed. And the salon will succeed when they are able to provide convenience and flexibility without compromising quality. So it’s really a win, win, win,” LuBow says. “On March 25th, we will be hosting SALON TODAY, the preeminent industry business media, in DeCentraland at the Thrivo space to celebrate the SALON TODAY 200 honorees, and that’s really what it’s all about for us—taking this industry to the next level and celebrating success along the way.”
