The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS)Board of Directors recently announced that professional beauty industry veteran, Anthony Civitano, has been named Interim Executive Director for the association effective immediately.

Anthony Civitano brings more than 30 years of executive experience to AACS including Executive Director of New York Beauty School Association, co-owner of 9 beauty schools including Long Island Beauty School, Hair Design Institute, and New York Institute of Beauty. He is also co-founder of SalonHQ salon technology and Co- Owner of Salon Bontique. Civitano spearheaded Global Business Development for Milady and others. From 2004 to 2017, he served as Board Member of AACS and has been a member of their Government Relations Committee for the past 20 years. Civitano was also the 2019 N. F. Cimaglia Award winner and has been NYS Captain for the Professional Beauty Association. He has also proudly been a licensed New York State cosmetologist for the past 30 years.

AACS was founded in 1924 and has a rich history of educating and advancing millions of students across the US into careers in the beauty and wellness industry.  AACS is a national nonprofit association open to all privately owned schools of cosmetology arts and sciences. AACS’s membership includes cosmetology, skin, nail, barbering and massage schools. Currently AACS has more than 250 school owners as members, representing over 500 schools. AACS provides timely information and resources about new teaching methods, industry events, and federal regulatory updates through a series of seminars, conferences and conventions held throughout the year. The greatest value of an AACS membership is the networking and resources provided to our members in addressing problems facing beauty education.
