Founded in Parma, Italy, in 1983, Davines has evolved into a global haircare brand serving salons in more than 90 countries yet remains rooted in a deep set of values first implemented by the family that owns the company today.
Today, the brand continues to evolve: from the introduction of a new tagline earlier this year, For a Good Life, to ongoing pioneering sustainability efforts, the continued introduction of new products to its network, and now the relaunch of its professional community channel, formerly known as Davines Color.
Meet The Davines Edit.
Originally conceived as a showcase for color work, the channel has been reborn as The Davines Edit to widen the lens and better capture the Davines universe in content.
Abigale Capila, Social Media and Content Specialist at Davines, has owned and managed the channel end-to-end for the past four years and says the need for change emerged as stories from their community no longer fit comfortably under the Davines Color name. But it was a good problem to have, Capila says.
“When @davinescolor was launched, there was a strong emphasis on hair transformations. That was a great starting point, but there was also a tremendous opportunity to grow the account into more of a community platform with defined content pillars and recurring series,” she says.
"The idea was never just to change the name of the channel; it was to create a space that reflects how expansive our professional community is."
“We began to notice that the people visiting the channel wanted useful nuggets of information. By looking through DMs, reviewing the Explore page, and paying attention to the questions people asked, we learned what they wanted to see more of.
“It became clear that there was an opportunity to create more stylist-to-stylist conversation. The account could be about more than hair color. It could include education, events, salon culture, and different professional perspectives.
“And at a certain point, the name described only one part of what the channel had become.”
While color, care, and styling will remain the focus, the platform will share the stories of stylists, educators, artists, and salon professionals who bring Davines products to life every day. The Davines Edit (@thedavinesedit) will serve as a "living magazine" and editorial space.
Jorge Blanco, North American Culture & Creative Director at Davines, describes this new social space as an immersive mix of still and video programming designed for the Davines professional community.
“Rather than simply turning the pages of a magazine or scrolling through another feed, we want people to feel as though they are peering into the Davines community and brand – experiencing the craft, creativity, lives and perspectives of the artists and people who make up our extended family,” Blanco says.
“Ultimately, we want to tell stories and share content that people genuinely care about. We'll bring you a rolling edit of inspiring imagery while also taking you behind the images to showcase the creative process and thoughts of our artists and community. For us, it's much more about inspiration and interaction than consumption.”
That distinction resonates with Davines. As a certified B Corp—a status recognizing companies that meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility, transparency and accountability—Davines has long championed a more conscious approach to consumption, grounded in sustainability, green chemistry and purpose-led beauty. In both content and commerce, the ambition is not simply to consume more, but to engage more meaningfully.
Blanco says the “living magazine” Davines is creating with The Davines Edit is built on the pillars that have always moved the brand: community, sustainability and culture.
“And now with our newly launched tagline – For a Good Life – we have the opportunity to share highly intentional content that helps to express “the harmony of purpose and wonder” and the “good actions” that push our brand and our community forward.”
Members of the community who found themselves spotlighted on Davines Color will continue to see themselves in The Davines Edit.
“Community content will remain essential, but its role will evolve,” Capilo adds. “We want to create more original stories featuring members of the community, allowing us to go deeper and be more intentional.”
Capila has seen how resharing user-generated content has thrilled creators who have found themselves on the Davines grid, and she is equally excited to continue celebrating them.
“People are genuinely excited to see themselves featured. I remember reposting content from my work phone and hearing someone nearby say, “Davines Color just reposted me!” I knew I had done it, but they didn’t.
“You can plan a post with intention, but you can't always know how it will make someone feel once it's out in the world. Hearing reactions like that reminds me how meaningful and impactful a feature can be.”
Ultimately, what Capila describes as “a particular sense of hospitality” that greets people when they encounter Davines is what she wants to bring to The Davines Edit.
“I want the content to make people curious. I want them to discover an artist they didn’t know and feel connected to that person. I hope they save something because they learned from it or want to show it to someone later.
“Most importantly, I want them to feel that The Davines Edit is for them.
“We want members of our community to be the voices of the channel, and we also want the channel to serve them. It should be for the stylist, by the stylist.”
