Through its three-year ZooDo campaign, Salon Spa W has donated more than $10,000 to its local zoo and taken more than 500 underprivileged children to the zoo for a day of fun. The campaign kicks off each March after the zoo makes its list of adoptable animals available for the coming year. The salon team chooses three of the animals to adopt, and clients are invited to choose the fourth through a Facebook competition.
“We feature our zoo babies on our main retail shelf and partner them with a popular retail product, with 25% of retail sales for that product going to the local zoo,” Wong says.
In June, the team compiles goodie bags for the kids selected for the zoo trip, and they offer guests a chance to buy and donate bags to the cause.
“The zoo day for the kids starts off with a brunch, then they have their faces painted by the Salon Spa W team, work on a zoo-themed craft and have a private see and touch interaction with multiple zoo animals,” Wong says.
