MODERN SALON talks with Hairmax’s Francesca Dubsky about the brand’s pioneering laser hair growth devices, their mission to boost confidence through healthy hair, and how stylists can use the Hairmax affiliate program to help clients experiencing hair loss.

A skinnier pony, a wider part--hair loss and hair thinning is a reality for millions of clients, and many times, it is their stylist who notices those signs of change. And they turn to their trusted stylist for advice before seeking medical help.
In this exclusive MODERN SALON interview, Hairmax’s Director of Marketing Francesca Dubsky discusses the brand’s FDA-cleared laser hair growth devices, including the LaserComb, LaserBand, and LaserCap. She explains how salons and independent stylists can participate in the Hairmax affiliate program to offer clients proven hair loss solutions while boosting their own revenue—without the need to stock inventory or become a trichologist.

LaserBand 82 hair growth laser device
MODERN SALON:Francesca, I would love to hear you describe the Hairmax brand overall and tell us a little bit about the Hairmax mission.
FRANCESCA DUBSKY: We have a great mission at Hairmax: to help you feel confident through beautiful, healthy hair. When your hair looks good, you feel good! A good hair day can set the tone for an even better day.
Feeling and looking your best empowers you to face challenges, tackle your goals, and put yourself out there with confidence.
MS:I know there are so many Hairmax tools—caps, supplements, bands. Could you describe the offerings?
FD: Absolutely. Hairmax pioneered laser hair growth technology 25 years ago. We started a whole new category in hair care with the launch of the Hairmax LaserComb back in 2000, which was Time Magazine’s Invention of the Year. We conducted seven clinical studies and achieved the first FDA clearance for a home-use laser light hair growth device.
Our devices use medical-grade lasers to re-energize dormant follicles, helping hair grow back thicker, fuller, and healthier.
We have several models:
LaserComb: Targets specific thinning areas, moving slowly across the scalp to deliver laser light directly to follicles.
LaserBand 82: A band-shaped device with 82 medical-grade lasers for a 90-second treatment (30 seconds front, middle, and back). It’s ideal for those who want fast sessions, especially men.
LaserCap: Contains 272 medical-grade lasers for full scalp coverage in seven minutes, three times a week. It’s cordless and hands-free.
Lumina Helmet (coming soon): A lightweight, sleek, cordless helmet with one-touch operation.
We also have a hair care line formulated for thinning hair, using bioactive ingredients and liposome technology to deliver active ingredients directly to the follicle, plus nutritional supplements for a full 360° hair growth solution.

MS:Many stylists want to help clients experiencing hair loss but aren’t trichologists or dermatologists. How can salons get involved?
FD: Most people are more comfortable talking to their stylist about hair loss than to a doctor. That’s a great opportunity for stylists to offer solutions.
We have two options:
Wholesale: Salons can carry products and sell them directly.
Affiliate Program: This is the easiest option. Stylists sign up on our website, receive a welcome box and brochures with their unique code. Clients get a special discount, and the stylist earns commission on each sale. The stylist simply hands the brochure to the client—Hairmax handles the rest.
This allows stylists to increase revenue without stocking inventory or managing sales logistics. For more Information contact: Melissa Schwartz - melissa.schwartz@hairmax.com
MS: Have you noticed an increase in hair loss conversations since COVID?
FD: Definitely. After COVID, there was a huge spike in hair loss—often trauma-induced, which can resolve over time. I experienced it myself, losing clumps of hair. But the most common cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia—genetics and hormones—which accounts for 90% of cases. That includes menopause, male and female pattern hair loss, and aging hair.
Hairmax devices are FDA-cleared to treat this type of hair loss. We have more FDA clearances than any other hair growth company—eight in total—plus seven clinical studies at top research centers like Cleveland Clinic and University of Miami, and publications in six peer-reviewed medical journals. Stylists can feel confident recommending Hairmax products, knowing the technology is proven and validated.
We’re here for all stylists and happy to answer questions. We want to help you and your clients grow—together.Learn more about partnering with Hairmax
