Now, Filini is a full-time lash artist and is booked out three to four months at her Deerfield, Illinois, studio. We put her up to the challenge of lashing MODERN’s Senior Editor Lauren Quick before her wedding.
MS: How are extensions for a wedding different?
FF: Wedding lashes should be more dramatic than what a client would have on a daily basis, not only for pictures, but because it’s a special occasion. I like to have the bride come in a month or two before the final fill just before her wedding. This way the she can do a hair and makeup trial run to see if her lashes need a little tweaking.
MS: How many appointments are needed?
FF: I like to do as close to the wedding as I can, then we backtrack three weeks and then three weeks back from
that. I suggest to my clients that they have a couple of fills before the wedding day to get an idea of how the brides wants her lashes to look for her wedding—is it too much? Can we go longer? Shorter? Fuller?
MS: How can lash extensions be marketed as a great option for a bride on her wedding day?
FF: A bride won’t need mascara and can be confident she’ll have a beautiful look that lasts through the ceremony to her honeymoon.
