Relive the memories of a fascinating and fun welcome day for Data-Driven Salon Summit 2027 in Austin, Texas.
The beauty looks spanned the decades with a nod to the flappers of the Roaring Twenties to high-volume pompadours of the ‘50s to vibrant wigs and finger wave sets that stole the show.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association whose membership consists of more than 500 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers. The CFDA mission is supporting the overall growth of American fashion and it does it through various initiatives including the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fun, a runway presentation of emerging designers.
On November 4, at the sixteenth annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show, Paul Mitchell Editorial Director Noogie Thai led styling backstage alongside Hair Creative Director Bob Recine, who conceptualized beauty looks to complement 10 up-and-coming designers’ clothing for the evening’s dance-inspired presentation.

THE LOOK: Colorful Finger-Waved Wigs
Inspiration: Bright and bold colors, strong shape, detailed waves around hair line
Took long colorful curly wigs and cut them into long bobs. To achieve the desired shape, Noogie applied the Extra Body Sculpting Foam while layering it with the Tea Tree Firm Hold Gel from base to mid shaft in segmented layers. Once the bottom half had enough volume, Noogie then saturated the top part of the hair brushing the Extra Body Sculpting Foam and Tea Tree Firm Hold Gel straight into hair to flatten the top half while leaving the bottom half natural curls. Then Noogie began sculpting the front pieces of the hair line to create a detailed “s” wave along the face. After the wig was on the model and pinned in place, it was sealed with Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray and set with the NEURO Dry to finish.

THE LOOK: The 1980’s
Inspiration: 80’s big hair, perm-like long teased waves, swept structured Hollywood waves
Noogie started off the 80’s look with drowning the hair with Extra Body Sculpting Foam and blow drying the strands straight to create volume. Once hair is dried, Noogie took the Pro Tools Express Iron Gold Curl 1 inch to curl the entire head in the same direction. Then hair was combed straight up and over to create structure. Pin back one side to offset symmetry and to balance the volume of the wave. Extra Body Finishing Spray was set to lock in the teased silhouette.

THE LOOK: The 1950s
Inspiration: 50s vibes, beehive, greaser, pompadour
Start with spraying Extra Body Sculpting Foam to male and female hair to create a strong hold and begin to tease with Paul Mitchell Teasing Brush while blow drying hair with the NEURO Dry up on top of head to get maximum volume. Separate hair into two sections, pull and fold back layers to create a beehive like, French cleat style. Bobby pin and tuck the individual sections together in the back of the head. Spray Extra Body Finishing Spray to create a final hold to pull the look together. To finalize shape to ensure the look is secured, Noogie finished off with Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine. For the men with shorter hair for this look, Noogie took the NEURO Dry and blew dry the hair up while Spraying Extra Body Finishing Spray to create volume for the desired Geometric, pompadour shape.
