As one of the world’s leading educational hairdressers for the past several years, Jamie Carroll has presented his seminars to eager audiences across the world. He’s made a pivot recently, transitioning his career from a renowned hair expert to a technology and artificial intelligence (AI) innovator, and he recently. He recently presented as a technology and artificial intelligence (AI) expert with global hair company Hairdreams, sharing how techology is a journey and AI brings it all together.

“Bringing different worlds together with innovation needs the experience of the past, the patience of dealing with the now, and the ability to not be afraid of what yet is to come,” Carroll recently explained in his presentation in Chicago to members of Intercoiffure America Canada. During his presentation, he pointed out how most things don’t change without these qualities.

Thoroughly committed to change and doing things differently, Carroll has been the driving force behind Valise Suite, which has trademarks and a patent-pending AI method in behavior that also uses dynamic language and complex questioning to deliver proactive conversations and information that exceed a customer’s expectations. The result is a syndication knowledge base that can be deployed immediately, with very little effort on the business’ part. Valise Suite brings an entirely new way to provide customer service, manage web presence, provide video content, and more. Plug and play solutions to provide full artificial intelligence to any website, quickly and easily create new and customized websites, provide interactive videos with quizzes and scoring, and host online content for the general public or via subscription service.

Carroll, as the CEO of Valise Suite and for the past 15 years, has developed an expert skillset in tech, along with successfully developing an internal systemization of a business focusing on education, communications, marketing, HR, and technical education within several dedicated manuals – operations, technical, educator and trainee.  Other education and tech brands started by Carroll were Glearning with envisionacademy® and continuouseducation®, which all went towards him winning a Global Entrepreneur Award for customer service overseen by UCLA School of Management.

Born and raised in outback Australia, Carroll’s country background saw him shearing sheep and learning many different skills at an early age which really developed his interest to work with his hands in later life.  After initially working as a photographer in his career, he entered the world of hairdressing and has never looked back. After a stint as a photographer working with artists such as Roxette, Joe Cocker, Duran Duran, Tina Arena, English legend Sir Cliff Richard, and many more. Then taking inspiration from many different sources, it was viewing work from Vidal Sassoon followed some years later with personal words of advice from Vidal himself that really steered Carroll into the world of innovation. “I was at Vidal’s home, taking photographs of his hands for an ‘inspirational hands’ story that became help hands Hurricane Katrina and he said to me that if he was to give advice to anyone starting out in the innovation it would be, “Be a life-long learner.”

As well as maintaining a different skill set, Carroll was an official sponsor for Australia Week promoting trade in the USA, along with such luminaries as Olivia Newton-John, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and Keith Urban, to name but a few. This enabled him to work with different people in varied roles outside of the industry he was in, which has really helped Carroll gain a different perspective on the provision of innovation and the skills and methods required, as well as helping him to showcase his company on a global scale.

Carroll’s success within innovation comes down to his persistent focus on strategy, systems planning, and a belief that to succeed in the development and provision of technology you must have a great team around you and “Think Local, Act City, Be Global.”  This philosophy and belief is paramount to Carroll and has helped him become recognized as a leader.
