Lewis believes placing the dryers on stands at each station makes a statement about her overall business.

As a salon owner, you devote huge portions of time each week to a variety of important matters. Like which hair color to use at your backbar. How to compensate your team. Whether or not to hire that promising hairstylist. But what many owners rarely think about is which hair dryer to use. And that could be a significant oversight.

Jessica Lewis opened Symmetry Hair Designs in Belleview, FL about seven years ago. From the beginning, her vision for her “small but mighty” business located near Ocala was clear. She was determined to provide her clients with the services and care they couldn’t get anywhere else. From the beginning, she has achieved her goals, emerging as one of the finest salons for miles around. And recently, she discovered a way to raise the bar even higher.

Lewis divides her time between Symmetry and her role as the manager of training for Matrix. “I was working in model rooms with Matrix,” she remembers, “and I noticed a lot of the artists using The Dyson Supersonic™ Professional Edition Hair Dryer. I grabbed one and I got really excited because the performance was great. I shared my experience with my team, and we decided as a group to purchase the dryers to use in our salon.”

What Lewis experienced was, in her words, “a powerful professional tool.” She explains, “The dryers make our jobs easier. Stylists are accustomed to high power and high heat. But with these dryers you do not need high heat. And they’re so fast! Recently we did a diffuser class. I used another dryer and everyone else used Dyson Supersonics with the diffuser attachment, and when everyone else was finished, I still had a third of a head to do.”

Comfort is another important factor for the busy stylists at Symmetry. “The dryer is really light,” explains Lewis, “and the design is so effective. Once you use the Dyson Supersonic you really can’t function with anything else.”

For that reason, all the stylists elect to purchase Dyson Supersonic, even the newcomers. “We hire our associates straight from beauty school and we train them before they go on the floor,” explains Lewis. “It’s not long before their dryers stay in the drawer and they borrow our Dyson Supersonic. Eventually they go ahead and buy their own.”

As a proud owner of an upmarket salon, Lewis loves the fact that the Dyson Supersonic reflects her brand. “Clients notice,” she says. “We leave them out on stands at our stations. The drying speed, the look of the piece—they make a statement. We strive to look high end and specialized; we have high standards in how we show up. And the Dyson Supersonics fit right in.”
