Cutting Loose Salon had never tried radio as part of its marketing, but when the radio station located above the salon’s Main Street location offered to give it a spot in exchange for borrowing the salon’s reservationist, Monica, to do some voiceovers for its own commercials, the offer was impossible to refuse.

The salon recorded a simple spot for WTMY 1280’s The Sport’s Fanatic, which appealed to both sports fans and their significant others. “It ended up reaching a demographic we don’t normally reach,” says Molly Dennehy, director of marketing. “Not only did these men bring in their wives and other family members, but their return retention rate was about 70 percent.”
