Description of Style: I would describe Salon 718 @ DUMBO as a warm modern interior. The inspiration behind the design was to draw natural and sustainable elements from the 1 Hotel Brooklyn while creating a unique interior that provides a memorable experience for clients as well as staff. The overall design is sleek and modern with lots of texture and warm tones. Texture is emphasized with the existing undisturbed concrete columns, new polished concrete flooring, wood soffits and wood cladding, restroom wallcovering and living wall feature wall. Brass and matte black hardware add to the curated design of the space.

When dreaming up [salon]718 @ Dumbo, Michaella Blissett Williams kept her goal of serving the community and being kinder to the planet in mind.
Not only was the design inspired by the natural and sustainable elements from the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, where the salon is located, but the salon itself is Pureology’s first flagship store in Brooklyn and serves as their premiere paperless salon.
To continue work on eliminating its carbon footprint, stacks of magazines aren’t scattered about the sitting area. Instead, the salon has iPads provided by Phorest Salon Software for browsing enjoyment and electronic payment, and [salon]718 works with Green Circle, a recycling company that utilizes everything from used foils to discarded hair to be more sustainable.
“This salon is the culmination of years of hard work and vision that have finally come to fruition,” Blissett Williams says. “Our ultimate goal is to serve our community and be kinder to the planet, while remaining thoughtful in our execution of business practices as stylists. We continue to evolve as experts and educators within our industry and spread the message that beauty is inclusive. We look forward to seeing our passion and purpose thrive in this bustling, vibrant location.”
