As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the nation and salons started closing their doors, the team at SALON TODAY worked as quickly as possible to post breaking news and design webinars that offered owners advice on how to close their salons, how to navigate turbulent financial waters and what to work on while their salons were closed. 

At the same time, Stacey Soble, SALON TODAY's director of brand content strategy, sought an interactive way that allowed her to tap into salon owners across the country each day spotlight on the creative ways they were connecting with the teams and clients, working toward a new salon business model, and coming up with creative ways to help those in their communities.

Here are a few of the spotlights:


Kris Carpenter, owner of Sanctuary Spa and Salon in Billings, Montana, shares a number of innovative ways she's rethinking her business--from retail to layout to uniforms--plus what she's doing to be part of the economic recovery process in her area and how she's reaching out to guests right now. 


Blo's Bryan Nunes (a.k.a. The Hairy Fairy) chats about his philanthropic drive-by color event, how it's raising money for hungry kids in his community and the importance of giving his team and clients a warm moment of safely-distanced connection when they miss it most.


Rowena Yeager, owner of Studio Wish Salon in Twinsburg, OH, and her client Amy Driscoll who share their personal story of COVID-19. When Rowena received the call from the health department that one of her client's tested positive, it guided her decision to close down her salon before the mandate. After Amy went 'viral' on social media, the two have been sharing their story with the community in an attempt to keep people safe.
