The first ever range of shears created especially for eco-minded stylists is now available in North America following an exclusive deal struck between Sustain Beauty Co and Leaf Scissors. Designed by hairdressers for hairdressers, the Leaf Black Edition Shears are made using high-grade 440c Japanese steel and titanium coating, but come with an ethically set mid-range price ticket of just $340. The company has also pledged to plant 10 trees for every product it sells, a promise that has already led to more than 77,000 trees being planted since the brand launched in 2019.
“We spent six months in design to nail down the ergonomics so they feel like an extension of your hand, and they let you explore your creativity with freedom and expression,” explained Stephen McManus, a hairdresser and educator before he launched Leaf. “I wanted to create a scissor that provided the best tool for stylists, made from the best materials available. But I was also determined that our company would have a sustainable purpose and also be affordable for any stylist.”

While the 440c steel and titanium coating ensure they keep their edge for longer, Leaf Black Edition Shears also come in a range of sizes with both left and right options. All shears are delivered in beautiful plastic-free ECO boxes made from 90% recycled material.
Leaf Scissors was founded by a hairdresser who passionately believes there is room in the industry to be more environmentally conscious.
“We are delighted to partner with Leaf, because it is a refreshing change for stylists that want more from the companies they purchase from,” said Valorie Tate, founder of Sustain Beauty Co. “Making premium scissors affordable for any stylist and backing it up with education and investment in the planet really puts Leaf ahead of the game.”
Sustain Beauty Co will start by offering the Black Edition range of scissor, texturizing scissor and uniquely designed feather razor, all part of Leaf Scissors’ best-selling product range.
About Leaf Scissors: Leaf Scissors was founded by a hairdresser who believes passionately that there is room in the hair industry to be more environmentally conscious. Change is possible if each hairdresser individually, and hair salons collectively make more sustainable choices, so for every pair of Leaf scissors you buy, Leaf will plant at least 10 trees. It has worked closely with its sharpening supplier, who is also now planting a tree for every scissor sharpened. Additionally, Leaf scissors are delivered to you in 100% recyclable packaging.
About Sustain Beauty Co: Sustain Beauty Co was born with the mission to help identify authentic, credible and environmentally responsible brands that put stylists at the forefront of their purpose.
