Some of the most forward-thinking salon owners will gather in Atlanta, May 17-19 for the fourth-annual Data-Driven Salon Summit (DDSS), a conference where numbers not only tell a story—they point the way to success.

Developed through a partnership between SALON TODAY and ZeeZor, DDSS will focus one day on topics that engage team members, and a second day on topics that engage clients.

Keynote presentations include: Pastor and Former Marine Miles Welch who will talk about the difference between carrying loads and carrying burdens; Todd Weeks who will dive deep into segments of the Entrepreneurial Operating System—a set of simple, practical and proven tools leaders can use to run their businesses on one aligned operating system; and Motivational Speaker Arquevious ‘Q’ Crane  whowill share what he’s learned about perseverance and resilience after a life-changing accident.

Through a series of cases studies moderated by Canvas Salon and Skin Bar's Stefanie Jackson, a panel led by Ginger Bay Salon and Spa’s Laura Ortmann, Salon 124 Group’s Chris Sulimay and Bella Style Salon’s Jen Baudier will explore the staff recruitment and retention crisis plaguing professional beauty and the out-of-the-box strategies they are using to capture new talent and keep them from straying.

Also on the mainstage, ISBN Director Valerie Tate will lead a panel of multi-location salon owners on “How to Know It’s Time to Grow.”

DDSS sponsors Phorest Salon Software, Millennium Systems International, Mindbody and DaySmart (Salon Iris) will open their data vaults and share important information on industry trends and technology tools which can help all owners increase productivity and boost profitability.

Through a series of breakout sessions, leading salon owners will share their expertise on specific best practices.

Penzone Salons + Spa’s Debra Penzone will show you how she’s rejuvenated a 50-year-old salon brand that is now reaching a new demographic and is a how-to case study in the book Titanic Epidemic; Design 1 Salon Spa’s Anna Walt will detail the video education series that is helping the salon’s five locations deliver consistent service; and the James Irving Grooming Room’s Amanda Olusanya will reveal how SEO is driving new business through her front doors.

Salon owners who are leading the country in specific KPIs will share their strategies through keynote presentations, then teach their systems in workshops. The metric presentations will include Service Guests Purchasing Retail, Productivity, Average Ticket and Client Count. After learning what their own numbers are telling them through ZeeZor’s Stack Up App, attendees will be able to identify the metric sessions that will best help them seize business opportunities.

In addition, some of the industry’s best business coaches will take the stage to share their sage advice. Kopsa Otte CPA’s April McDaniel will point out the most often overlooked mistakes on salon business’ tax returns. Strategies’ Michael Yost will explore Frequency of Visit or what he calls the hidden driver for a business. And, Inspiring Champion’s Lauren Gartland will share systems that help owners uncover some hidden revenue.

The learning will continue on Tuesday, May 19, when coaches present a series of Crash Courses and a SALON TODAY photoshoot will send owners home with some quality headshots.
