The Private Room, a full-service salon in the heart of Beverly Hills, opened its doors to Step Up’s celebrity presenters, guests, staff and Step Up teens to help them get ready for the organization’s highly-anticipated Inspiration Awards. The annual luncheon supports the non-profit’s mission in empowering girls living in under-resourced communities to graduate high school, attend college and become the next generation of professional women.
“It’s such an honor and privilege to support Step Up,” says Tina Dizon, owner, The Private Room. “This non-profit does so much to help empower the next generation of young women. I love meeting other people who support this organization as well as meeting the teens who have benefited from the program. Their stories continue to inspire me, and the energy they bring to the salon is undeniable.”
The Private Room, which was completely renovated earlier this year, closed the entire salon and provided eight staff members to assist Step Up teens, staff and celebrities, including Lisa Ling, Jennie Garth and Torrey DeVitto. All guests experienced a range of hair and makeup services as they enjoyed the salon’s modern mid-century décor and unique three dimensional walls.
“Step Up is grateful for the support of The Private Room,” says Alissa Zito, VP of Communications, Step Up. “The Inspiration Awards luncheon celebrates the achievements of Step Up girls who are graduating high school and entering college. The Private Room graciously steps in to make our presenters and guests look and feel their very best for Step Up’s biggest event of the year, and we could not be more thankful for their partnership.”
The 15th annual Inspiration Awards, which was held at The Beverly Wilshire, welcomed more than 800 guests and raised more than $500,000 for the organization’s mentorship programs. This year, the luncheon honored actor Regina Hall and Step Up teen Vivi for their achievements, as well as featured Channing Dungey, Step Up board member and president, ABC Entertainment. Celebrities including January Jones, Julie Bowen, Garcelle Beauvais, Sanaa Lathan, Jaina Lee Ortiz and First Lady of Los Angeles Amy Elaine Wakeland showed their
support by participating as event presenters.
