On May 6th, Pureologywill kick off the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’sRun/Walk season at its first event of the year. Pureology’s “Think Teal” team, consisting of its employees, salon and stylist partners and distributors, will be attending the NOCC’s Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer, which is designed to increase awareness, honor those affected by ovarian cancer, and raise crucial funds to support its national and local programs and services. Through these events, the community is empowered, Survivors are honored, and those lost to the disease are remembered.

The annual event, which will take place in 20 locations across the country in 2017, also assists in funding its Research in Action initiative, which supports the first ever Ovarian Cancer Dream team through its partnership with Stand Up To Cancer. This team of internationally renowned experts, researchers and clinicians, will focus on developing new therapies and enhance collaboration at all levels. With its combined focus on treatment and prevention, this program is poised to deliver extraordinary benefits. Stand Up To Cancer team members will also be at the Tristate event.

“1 in 75 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year, making it the 5th leading cause of cancer-related death in women,”  David Barley, CEO of the NOCC says. “We are honored to have Pureology’s partnership in creating much needed awareness of this silent killer.”

In February of this year, Pureology reaffirmed its commitment in the fight against ovarian cancer with a generous donation to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to fund critical programs and support for women, their families, and caregivers affected by ovarian cancer. To further their already extraordinary commitment to the cause, Pureology, with its employees, salon and stylist partners and distributors, is forming teams to participate in several of the NOCC’s signature fundraising and awareness event, Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer.

“Affecting more than 22,000 women annually, early detection is crucial to improving survival rates for those diagnosed with this disease,” says Leslie Marino, General Manager of Redken and Pureology. “We at Pureology are extremely proud to use our voice in support of the NOCC in raising awareness for a cause that impacts so many women. Behind the chair and out in the field, our Pureology family is dedicated to this partnership and the community that ovarian cancer impacts every day.”

Founded in 1991, the mission of the NOCC is to save lives by fighting tirelessly to prevent and cure ovarian cancer, and to improve the quality of life for Survivors. Through national programs and local NOCC chapter initiatives, the NOCC’s goal is to educate communities and increase awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer. The NOCC also offers information to assist newly-diagnosed patients, hope to Survivors, and support to caregivers.

The Invisible Work of a Rebrand

In this rare essay, the president of a haircare brand takes us behind-the-scenes into a world we never see when we pick up a product off the shelves--the arduous, thought-probing, second-guessing journey of rebranding a legacy product line.
