The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation will honor the late Paul Mitchell with the Legacy Award on Sunday, March 31, 2019, during the 7th annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience co-hosted by America’s Beauty Show and Pivot Point International. Mr. Mitchell’s son, Angus Mitchell, will accept the award honoring his father’s legacy. The 2019 Legacy honoree was announced at the Beauty Changes Lives press conference held during Cosmoprof North America. The Global Artistic Director for Paul Mitchell, Robert Cromeans, addressed the invited guests and talked about his mentor, Paul Mitchell.
An icon in the world of hairstyling and fashion, Paul Mitchell revolutionized the art and science of hairdressing while transforming the way the world thinks about hair care. Long before “environmental stewardship” was a mainstream component of corporate social responsibility, Mitchell pioneered innovations that ranged from alternative energy systems, and cruelty-free product testing to natural ingredients, including the Hawaiian awapuhi wild ginger still used as a primary ingredient in Paul Mitchell products. In addition to his contributions that protected the planet and its people, Paul Mitchell was also an advocate for professional education, and his approach to professional education lives on in the JPMS schools.
Mitchell becomes the 7th recipient of the award which recognizes an industry professional whose career defined a commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of beauty and wellness professionals. Previous recipients include Horst Rechelbacher (2018), Sydell and Arnold Miller (2017), Howard Murad, MD (2016), Leo Passage (2015), Tippi Hedren (2013) and Vidal Sassoon (2012).
Legacy honorees are selected by directors of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation; a board representing some of the world’s leading beauty brands and influencers. “The Paul Mitchell brand represents the intersection of compassion and innovation – two elements that defined Paul Mitchell’s life and continue to be lived out by the company he founded,” said Lynelle Lynch, president of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. “We are humbled to honor his legacy.”
Tickets for the Beauty Changes Lives Experience and the signature Legacy Award Dinner honoring Paul Mitchell will go on sale at www.beautychangeslives.org this fall. The annual event unites hairstylists and professional beauty brands to honor an industry legend while paying success forward to support the next generation of beauty professionals. Since its founding in 2013, the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation has raised more than $5M to support NextGen talent.
