OPI and Bellacures Honor Tippi Hedren for Transforming the Nail Industry

Luxe nail salon Bellacures, along withOPI, hosted a cocktail event on October 8th, 2015 at Bellacures Brentwood to honor and award Hollywood actress and activist Tippi Hedren for her work in aiding Vietnamese refugees and transforming the nail industry.  Bellacures Nail Salon Franchise Founder, Samira Far, Bellacures Brentwood owner Gerard Quiroga and OPI Founder and Creative DirectorSuzi Weiss-Fischmann were all on hand to present the guest of honor with the Bellacures “Believe, Achieve, Empower” Award, an award given to women who find unique ways to empower other women. 

Hedren, most famous for her roles in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and "Marnie"  and an animal rights activist,  is credited with launching  the Vietnamese-American Nail Profession, which today accounts for 50% of the total industry. She has committed herself to the education and empowerment of Vietnamese-American women by helping them find work in the professional nail industry over the last three decades.

Guests including Tippi’s daughter Melanie Griffith, along with Dusty Butera, Tippi’s original manicurist who taught the refugees, Thuan Lee and Kien Nguyen, two of the first twenty Vietnamese manicurists, Tam Nguyen and Linh Nguyen of Advance Beauty College, and more enjoyed an evening of pampering with complimentary OPI mini manicures, hors d’oeuvres by The District by HA, wine by Carignan Partners and a special screening of “Happy Hands”, a documentary that tells the story of Hedren’s work helping a group of female war refugees.  The event was produced by Michael Habicht of iii Designs
