Kevin.Murphyreveals a limited edition Session,Spray, the brand’s classic aerosol with firm hold styling. To promote up-and-coming talent and help young designers get started in their creative endeavors, Kevin.Murphy chose to host a design competition to coincide with the limited edition release at Australia’s Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) School of Fashion & Textiles.

From numerous submissions, founder Kevin Murphy selected the winning entry by Honours Student Katie Barter, in collaboration with Photographer Millicent Grant. A photoshoot with hair by Kevin Murphy, shot by Luis Murphy, with Fashion Styling by Virginia Dowzer was created for the winning collection.

Kevin Murphy said, “I chose this particular design, titled ‘Handle With Wear’, because it explores the expressions of touch and represents the experience that a hairstylist creates in their everyday lives, as it is all centered around their hands. I felt that this design directly reflected the intimate relationship that hairdressers have with their clients.”

The brand is also supporting non-profit breast cancer foundation, Wings of Karen, with every case sold.

After being featured at Melbourne Fashion Week in August, it will be available in salons in September and October at a suggested retail price of $29.00.
