On Tuesday, April 2, in line with the beginning of Earth Month, Environmental Advocate and Wellness Expert Hilaria Baldwin teamed up with Aveda to unveil an art installation made from 100% recycled materials at FIT in New York City.

The outside of the installation was made from 14,000 Aveda bottles, which were originally created from post consumer recycled materials (i.e. milk jugs, soda bottles etc). These bottles lived a second life as Aveda hair and body care packaging before serving a third purpose -- as art -- in celebration of the 13th annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference at FIT.

Following the Conference, the installation will be given a fourth life: select pieces will be on permanent display within Aveda’s headquarters, and the rest will be donated to New York non-profit Teaching Beyond the Square, which collects recycled goods to turn them into children’s learning, creative expression and art materials.

The installation will be on display until Monday, April 8 2019.

The Invisible Work of a Rebrand

In this rare essay, the president of a haircare brand takes us behind-the-scenes into a world we never see when we pick up a product off the shelves--the arduous, thought-probing, second-guessing journey of rebranding a legacy product line. Not only is her reflection fascinating, but it is also incredibly useful for any salon owner or manufacturer contemplating their own brand.
