Recently, Farouk Systems, presenting sponsors of 2012 Miss USA and Miss Universe, challenged women to submit their best “Bad Hair Day” photo along with an essay describing how winning a makeover from CHI would benefit and help to “makeover” their lives.  The winning CHI-three were Emma Pierce, Shannon Schlief and Arianna Duncan, women with diverse backgrounds and stories.

Within days of being notified they had won, the three ladies were flown to Houston and given a tour of the Houston facilities of Farouk Systems by Farouk Shami and Miss Teen USA Danielle Doty. Next, they were chauffeured to Sugarland, TX to the salon of Farouk Stylist Albert Luiz where the women received complete hair and wardrobe makeovers. Then, the three contestants and a guest were flown to Vegas where they received VIP passes to the Miss USA pageant on June 3.   Their makeover stories ran during the nationwide telecast and the ladies sat in the front row during the show with Shami.

“It was such an honor to meet these wonderful women,” Shami said. “They each have incredible backgrounds that led them here to Houston and CHI and I’m proud we were able to help them show the world the beauty they encompass inside and out. No one is born with perfect hair, but with the help of CHI and Farouk Systems, every woman can experience the confidence that comes with a picture perfect style and healthy hair.”

Now, Farouk Systems is holding a sweepstakes to attend the Miss Universe pageant Sept. 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil where Shami will be a judge.  Enter here:

The Invisible Work of a Rebrand

In this rare essay, the president of a haircare brand takes us behind-the-scenes into a world we never see when we pick up a product off the shelves--the arduous, thought-probing, second-guessing journey of rebranding a legacy product line. Not only is her reflection fascinating, but it is also incredibly useful for any salon owner or manufacturer contemplating their own brand.
