During the America’s Beauty Show 2019, Dr. Farouk Shami received the Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Service. He was selected as this year’s recipient by the Cosmetologist’s Chicago Board of Directors by a unanimous vote. The event was held in Chicago at The Geraghty on March 31, 2019 during the Beauty Changes Lives Gala. On hand to receive the award for Dr. Shami was Lisa Marie Garcia, Farouk Systems’ President of Innovation.
The Fred A. Piattoni Award for Industry Servicewas established in 2016 after the passing of Fred Piattoni, the former Executive Director/Show Manger for Cosmetologist’s Chicago and the Midwest Beauty Show (now renamed America’s Beauty Show). Fred served the association, the trade show and the industry with great integrity and knowledge of the professional salon industry.
For over 30 years, Dr. Shami has had a strong devotion to hairdressers and salons. As the inventor of a non-ammonia hair color, Dr. Shami is known for protecting hairdressers and their clients and putting their needs first. He has also created countless other products and tools that have contributed to the success of the stylist and of the industry.
According to Dr. Shami, “I am honored to receive this award named after a great man whom together we shared a passion for this industry. It will proudly serve as daily reminder of my fond memories of Fred Piattoni, our over 30 years supporting the show and how together we have helped the hairdresser.”
