Makeover: Our most effective strategy has been setting retail goals for the salon with monthly and year-to-date percentages to goal. The stylists actually look with anticipation to an extra little “happy face” icon included with their paycheck packages. The little note from Wes is hand-drawn with pom-poms and exclamation points for exceeding the goal, or maybe a little sad face with a tear if that person didn’t do so well.

Why we did it: To sustain retail sales and make each stylist aware of their numbers.

Impact on the business: We reward our stylist’s hard work with paid trips to New York City and tuition to the Redken Exchange in addition to compensation. This benefits the entire salon.
