Groupon.com, a relatively new city-specific discount website, is proving the idea that group coupons can be a great asset to the professional salon industry.

Rather than offering basic, old-fashioned discounts, Groupon allows for businesses to get involved with “collective buying,” meaning they offer a discounted rate to consumers only after a certain number of people have agreed to pay the discount. According to Groupon, the beauty industry is beginning to take advantage of this unique marketing system, including:

  • $25 Massage ($60 value) at Essence of Tranquility in Cleveland, OH.

  • $65 Package ($139 value) at Natural Body and Spa Shop in Washington, DC.

  • $60 Spa package at Image Nails Skin Beauty in Chicago, IL.

  • $25 Haircut ($60 value) at Milvali Salon & Cosmetics in San Francisco, CA.

When a business is featured on Groupon, there are no other features in that city for the day. As a minimum number of people must buy for the offer to be valid, Groupon guarantees paying customers. For details, visit groupon.com.
