When a salon becomes a new member in Green Circle Salons in April 2021, the company guarantees that 10,000 plastic bottles will be prevented from entering the world's oceans, while helping the people who are collecting those bottles with a premium that can be used for basic necessities.

This Earth Month, Green Circle Salons - the world’s first sustainable salon solution, is announcing a partnership with Plastic Bank, a social enterprise helping the world stop ocean-bound plastic while improving the lives of collectors in vulnerable coastal communities to help reduce global ocean-bound plastic.
Green Circle Salons’s partnership with Plastic Bank® will guarantee that for every new membership in April 2021, ten thousand (10,000) plastic bottles will be prevented from entering the world’s oceans - while uplifting collectors across the world. Through this partnership beauty professionals will be able to battle ocean plastic while recovering up to 95% of their beauty waste by becoming certified sustainable Green Circle Salons members.
“It’s up to all of us to take care of our planet and build a regenerative and sustainable future,” says Green Circle Salons Founder and CEO Shane Price. “We are proud to join forces with Plastic Bank this Earth Month, to empower the beauty industry to keep people and our planet beautiful. Together, we are showing our commitment to the planet by preventing plastic bottles from entering our world’s oceans and improving the lives of collector communities."
Here's how it works. Plastic Bank helps build ethical recycling ecosystems in coastal communities, and reprocess the materials for reintroduction into the global manufacturing supply chain. Collectors receive a premium for the materials they collect to better help them provide basic family necessities such as groceries, school tuition, and health insurance. Collected material is reborn as Social Plastic, which is reintegrated into products and packaging. This creates a closed-loop supply chain while helping those who collect it.
“We’re excited to work with Green Circle Salosn for a partnership that leads the way for a more regenerative future. This partnership will allow newly subscribed members to contribute to the global effort of protecting our oceans while helping collector communities.” said David Katz, founder and CEO Plastic Bank.
In addition, twelve major beauty industry brands have partnered with Green Circle Salons to prevent an additional 100,000 plastic bottles. Together, the participating companies will prevent an additional 1.2 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean in partnership with Green Circle Salons and Plastic Bank.
"This partnership with Plastic Bank has allowed us to mobilize our stakeholders, all of whom are now doubling their environmental impact by tackling the troubling crisis of ocean plastic while also positively impacting developing communities across the globe.” says Bill Deliman, director of stakeholder engagement. “We are so appreciative to the global vision and commitment to corporate responsibility of Paul Mitchell, Boulevard, Pureology, EVO Hair, Fekkai, Joico, Denman, Rosy, Moroccanoil, L’ANZA, Chatters and Fatboy for investing and influencing their communities to join us in repairing our planet.”
