Looking to pump up profits in the spa? Try focusing on waxing services. Use the following tips from RENEW magazine, SALON TODAY’s sister publication for estheticians and spa owners, as a guide to getting started.

* Have your estheticians educate regular skin care clients on the waxing services you offer. Put a sign at your front desk or in the treatment room.

* Market to men. Guys don’t need to go the full monty to benefit from hair removal services. Estheticians can suggest light shaping for unruly brows, or offer to clean up stray hairs on their neckline.

* Gauge prices around town before setting your own. A $40 eyebrow wax may seem like a profitable idea, but not if you’re outpriced by every other spa in town.
