Beauty and Wellness Tips for Sheltering at Home

Participating in Zoom calls and webinars day in and day out is not normal for most salon owners, who typically are on their feet managing their businesses or servicing their guests. In a recent "SALON TODAY Conversations" video interview, Debra Penzone, co-owner of PENZONE Salons + Spas in Columbus, Ohio, shared some health and wellness tips designed to give these frayed owners a moment of pampering, a little extra vitality and a moment to stretch. 

In her kitchen, Penzone shared some of her favorite smoothie recipes, then she led us to her dining room table where she showed viewers a number of chair yoga stretches, and finally in her living room she shared a meditative moment. Catch the video and Penzone's recipes below:

GREEN GOODNESS
A smoothie that is grounding and filling and packed with vitamins A, C+ and K, minerals and fibers
1 C. almond milk 
2 C. dark greens, such as spinach, kale, dandelions, micro greens and collard greens 
1/2 banana
1/2 peeled and pitted avocado
Slice of ginger 
Cluster of cauliflower
Blend in high-powered blender and enjoy.

GREEN MATCHA MANGO+GINGER
A fresh citrus pick-me-up with natural caffeine that boosts metabolism.
1 C.coconut water 
1 C. diced mango 
1/2 banana 
1 T. matcha green tea powder
Slice of ginger 
Fresh squeezed lime 
Blend in high-powered blender and enjoy.

NIGHTTIME GOLDEN MILK 
Warm healing goodness for anti-inflammatory 
1 C. warm coconut milk 
1 T. Turmeric 
1 T. Ginger 
1 tsp. Black pepper 
Blend in  high-powered blender and enjoy.

MORNING RESET
A low-sugar health aid that is good for hydration, clear skin and mind. 
Glass of warm water 
Juice from 1/2 lemon

AVO-NANA MASK
A moisturizing homemade facial mask rich in vitamins and minerals--made from the leftover ingredients of the smoothies above that is moisturin
1/2 banana 
1/2 peeled and pitted avocado 
Mix into smooth paste. 
Apply on clean skin, leave on for 10-15 minutes, wash face then moisturize.
