No-Shows: Does Your City Have a High Rate?

Some days it may seem as if more clients are no-shows than shows, but according to a Booksy survey, at worst over time only about 2 percent of clients don't even give the salon a heads-up before bailing on their appointment. The poll of beauty and wellness businesses in 15 cities across the U.S. indicates that your rate of no-shows may depend upon your salon's location.

In the survey, the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area had the highest rate of no-shows—2.37%—and perhaps the upper Midwest's frigid weather plays a role, because the Twin Cities were followed by Milwaukee and Chicago. However, the southern cities didn't necessarily shine; at 0.98%, Stamford, CT, was the spot in the survey that boasted the lightest no-show impact.

In this ranking, each city represents its full metropolitan area which, in some cases, bleeds into a neighboring state:

  1. Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN: 2.37%
  2. Milwaukee, WI: 2.19%
  3. Chicago, IL: 2.14%
  4. El Paso, TX: 2.11%
  5. Portland, OR: 2.03%
  6. Austin, TX: 2.02%
  7. Louisville, KY: 2.02%
  8. St. Louis, MO: 2.0%
  9. Riverside-San Bernardino, CA: 1.99%
  10. Phoenix, AZ: 1.97%
  11. Nashville, TN: 1.38%
  12. New Orleans, LA: 1.31%
  13. San Francisco, CA: 1.30%
  14. Cincinnati, OH: .22%
  15. Bridgeport-Stamford, CT: 0.98%
