For the massive construction project which became the new Cloud 9 Salon and Spa, patience was the name of the game.
First, Owner Kim Cloud waited for her existing building to sell, then she had to find a temporary space for her staff to continue to work while she waited for construction pricing to stabilize post-pandemic, for the supply chain to recover and for the massive project to complete. The payoff was tremendous with a gorgeous warehouse glam salon that doubles the revenue possible from the pop-up temporary location, while development of additional business spaces in the building now draws rental income from three tenants.
“Our vision was to create a magnificent warehouse-style building that exuded grandeur and glamour and served as a haven for skilled professionals,” Cloud says. “The contrast of exquisite lighting fixtures and elegant wall coverings against the backdrop of weathered brick and cement floors create a breathtaking aesthetic.”
One standout feature is the salon’s ‘logo’ wall, where an artist ingeniously employed a chalk and distressed paint technique to imbue the salon’s sign with the charm of an aged warehouse emblem. The logo graces one of the brick walls where the salon’s contractor employed a technique to emulate the appearance of aged, crumbling warehouse walls. Today, the logo wall serves as the salon’s selfie station.
The strategic use of the distressed brick continues throughout the salon and boutique. The grandeur of the 6-foot pivoting spa entrance doors leaves an indelible impression as guests enter the tranquility beyond.
To enhance the customer experience, Cloud implemented several special touches. In the processing area, a television monitor displays a scrolling presentation featuring every team member along with their photo, bio and the services they offer. A coffee bar, stationed on a vintage 70-year-old butcher block table, offers delicious ground coffee and tea. And, the conveniently located restrooms are accessible from both the salon and the spa.
“Our clients are loving our new Cloud and Feather Boutique, which has an awesome selection of gift items, jewelry and home décor,” Cloud says. “We also take great pride in the thoughtful convenience we’ve incorporated for our team—from a fully equipped kitchen to the locker area and outdoor patio—each reinforces our commitment to prioritizing their comfort and happiness.”
These distinctive design elements set Cloud 9 apart from its competitors. “We firmly believe that our talented team takes great pride in the environment they inhabit each day, and that our clients are WOWed with every visit,” she concludes.
