For the past several years, the trend in salon design has leaned toward a very clean aesthetic—typically white-on-white or white-on-grey when it comes to floors, wall coverings and furnishings. No doubt, it’s a smart choice for salons—it puts the spotlight on the client and makes the salon look and feel bright, happy and clean.

While the judges for the landmark salon design competition—SALON TODAY’s Salons of the Year—tallied their votes for their favorites this year, we noted there were very bold pops of color among the entries this year. From reception furniture to focus walls, blues, pinks, purples and even florals splashed  a note of interest to the otherwise clean designs.
