First Time at Fashion Week: The Evo Study Tour Team Describes the Backstage Experience

For the past five years, Evo has hosted the Study Tour, a program in which they offer stylists from around the world the opportunity to come to NYC during Fashion Week and learn about the business and bustle of doing editorial hair. Of course, they also have the amazing opportunity to work backstage at a fashion show.

During the whirlwind of New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017,MODERN SALON went behind the scenes at the Libertine show to check out the work being done by the Evo Study Tour team.

For the past five years, Evo has hosted the Study Tour, a program in which they offer stylists from around the world the opportunity to come to NYC during Fashion Week and learn about the business and bustle of doing editorial hair. Of course, they also have the amazing opportunity to work backstage at a fashion show (or in this year’s case, two fashion shows – Libertine and Bibhu Mohapatra). These stylists bring their talent and experience from the salon to this new opportunity to learn and witness another exciting area of beauty.

MODERN Editor Maggie Mulhern interviewed Evo Marketing Manager Meghann Reeves backstage to learn more about the team’s experience styling at fashion week.

Reeves explains that the Libertine S/S ’17 hair look created by Kenna Kennor, Evo global brand media ambassador, was influenced by ‘70s punk to complement Libertine’s disruptive spirit. The Study Tour brought on 17 stylists from around the world to bring this rebellious look to life.

“Who wouldn’t want to do this?” Reeves asks. “This is every stylist’s dream and as a brand we’ve been able to give them that opportunity.”

Reeves grabbed one Study Tour stylist, Mandy, to have her tell us more about the experience of moving from salon to styling backstage at New York Fashion Week.

“We work in the salon most of the time so to be in an environment like this where we’re learning great techniques, we’re working with fellow passionate hairdressers and designers—everything about it is exciting!” Mandy says. “And we’re in New York so it doesn’t get much better than that!”
