After analyzing thousands of images submitted for the Salons of the Year 2015 competition, the Salon Today team spotted some clever, light-hearted décor trends that just may inspire your next renovation project:

TURN ON THE FLASH
ERA Salon
Dallas, Texas
Owned by: Maleiah Rogers
The perfectly elegant ERA Salon seems entirely cool, calm and collected…until you entire the washroom. Here guests are met with full walls of paparazzi’s flashbulbs. The full wall murals of gaping faces and cameras is an unexpected shock and a welcome dose of humor in this otherwise pristine salon.

BRIGHT IDEA
Beige + Blanc Salon Spa
Livingston, New Jersey
Owned by: Joey Poto
Edison lights are not a new thing, but Beige + Blanc do it right, integrating them into the salon’s industrial chic décor. The worn wood and metal pipes that make up the base for the vintage bulbs are rustic, but when positioned around the mirrors of each station, they take on all of the elegance of candelabras. Plus, the wooden bases have been stamped with the salon’s name, serving as a great mode of branding.

INTO THE WOODS
Face Value Salon - Stonefield
Charlottesville, Virginia
Owned by: David and Lucinda Riley
Relaxation is a part of the big picture at Face Value, an Aveda Lifestyle Salon. The shampoo area is equipped with rear wash chairs, reclining seats, subdued lighting, separate speaker controls and a wall-sized mural of a grove of trees in France. Together, you have the perfect recipe for escape and renewal.

WITH THE GRAIN
Avantgarde Salon
Niceville, Florida
Owned by: Joseph A. Rogers
Textures and patterns have been put to good use in Avantgarde Salon, beginning with the hard wood floors that provide warmth and sophistication to the space. The wall behind the front desk is made from small blocks of reclaimed pine, creating an attractive and ecofriendly entry area. Finally, globe lights resembling beehives hang from the ceiling, with horizontal slats that mimic and compliment other lines in the space.

#FOLLOWME
Gallery Salon
Farmington, Connecticut
Owned by: Gino and Donna Moncada
Among all the services that salons can offer, don’t forget how important technology has become to salon growth. We love Gallery Salon’s technology bar, where clients can stay connected, share their experience and check out the salon’s website and social pages.

JUST A SPLASH
Hairsay Salon
Port Washington, New York
Owned by: Val Yukhanov and Albert Abramov
Upon entering Hairsay Salon, your eye is immediately drawn to the tray ceilings with colored lighting that adds a bit of interest to the otherwise monochromatic space. A louder pop of color is found in the orange, floral accent wall. Clean, white walls are nice – but we all know that creative types can’t resist adding a splash of color.
