SALONS OF THE YEAR: Hit Us With Your Best Shots!

Each summer our attention turns to salon design, and discovering the most gorgeous new interior designs in salons, spas, barbershops, nail salon and media spas. 

For decades, SALON TODAY’s Salons of the Year competition has celebrated salon, spa and barbershop design by naming the 20 most gorgeous spaces each year. Salons that have been newly opened or renovated in the past two calendar years (January 1, 2023 through March 31, 2025) are eligible to enter the 2025 photo-based salon design competition.

The 2025 application is live now though the competition deadline of June 30, 2025. All entries must be made through the online application portal.

To help you prepare before you open the online application, here's a list of the essay questions:

1. Tell us about your new salon design as if we were a new client visiting the space. Explain what elements of your design help communicate your brand to your client base and/or elevate the client experience. Make sure to spotlight three or more of your favorite design features and tell us how they make your salon different than others in your market. 

2. What was the biggest challenge about this salon or spa design, and how did you overcome it? How does your salon/spa design enhance productivity?

3. Describe your target market. What elements of your design attract this desired market?
