SelecTech, Inc., a leader in innovative flooring products, recently announced the creation of a special division to cater to hair salons, barber shops and spas.

“When it comes to flooring, hair salons have some real challenges. One is comfort. Stylists have to be on their feet all day. Another is maintenance. Dyes and other chemicals used can damage certain types of flooring, sometimes permanently,” says Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc. “With our new division, we can provide the products and support services to help salons, spas and barber shops select a flooring that best serves their needs.”

Specifically, SelecTech’s FreeStyle flooring addresses the needs of hair salons, spas and barber shops. Employing a cutting-edge, interlocking technology, FreeStyle flooring installs quickly over existing floor surfaces--without glues or other messy adhesives and without having to completely move chairs and other furniture and equipment for long periods of time. This virtually eliminates down time and causes no business interruption.

Made from recycled materials and 100 percent recyclable, FreeStyle offers a stain-resistant surface, which means it can stand up to the inevitable spills of hair color and other chemicals. With a durable wear layer, it’s built for the demanding requirements of the beauty industry. Its flexible composition also makes it much more comfortable to stand on.

“Our look and feel is that of an eco-friendly by design urban-chic loft and our objective is to forge a green path. But we needed a floor that would not only be made of recycled materials but also be resistant to hair dyes and easy to maintain,” said spokesperson for Salon Rocks, a hair salon in Englewood, New Jersey. “FreeStyle flooring made it simple to keep our commitment to mother earth and look fantastic while doing it.”

FreeStyle is available in a large selection of attractive styles and can be custom-designed to incorporate salon logos into the flooring.  To learn more about SelecTech products, including the FreeStyle flooring products, visit http://www.selectechinc.com

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
