"Our team at Brava Salon Specialists created a website and worked for weeks to develop a database of salons in Ukraine," Marcks explains. "With over 600 salons so far, salons in the US now have the opportunity to help and to 'adopt' a specific Ukrainian salon by going to ChangeisCalling.com. And your salon guests will be able to donate directly to those hairdressers through Facebook and PayPal."

Salons can also get the word out to their clientele by using the marketing materials shared on ChangeisCalling.com. Marcks suggests that salons set up donation boxes for clientele to offer their financial support.

"This plan will get 100% of the money directly into the bank accounts of hairdressers in Ukraine," Marcks continues. "Donations have been very gratefully received by these Ukrainian hairdressers who are able to use the money to purchase medicine, pet food, first-aid kits, food, clothing, water and shelter. Remember: $50 U.S. = $150 in Ukraine."

Marcks says that interested salons may call his office at 608.268.6529 and they will match your salon, based on your salon size and the size of the salon in Ukraine. They will follow up with an email containing the support material and contact information needed to get started with a fundraising event.

The Invisible Work of a Rebrand

In this rare essay, the president of a haircare brand takes us behind-the-scenes into a world we never see when we pick up a product off the shelves--the arduous, thought-probing, second-guessing journey of rebranding a legacy product line. Not only is her reflection fascinating, but it is also incredibly useful for any salon owner or manufacturer contemplating their own brand.
