A few years back, Jeff South, owner of Atlanta’s Intrigue Salon, changed the way both salon owners and stylists viewed in-house education when he created Club Intrigue—inviting in big-name educators and opening his salon after hours to stylists from neighboring salons. By hosting Livestream videos of the educational events, South encourages salon professionals from around the country to partake.

Recently, South has been taking Club Intrigue on the Road by partnering up with salon owners who’ve agreed to host educational events. For example, on August 3, the Van Michael Salon in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood hosted world-renowned stylist Sharon Blain from Australia. An acclaimed long hair educational stylist, member of Hair Expo Australia’s Hall of Fame and a four-time winner of Educator of the Year, Blain’s extreme styling and hairdressing education had the audience in awe and coming away with useful tips and techniques.

“I was so proud we were able to attract that caliber of education, and that one of the most high-profile salons in the country would host it at no benefit to themselves,” South says.

On the same date, at their home base, Club Intrigue featured Nick Arrojo along with local talent, including Aaron Rohling of Salon Modello, Liz Wilson of Intrigue Salon, Joshua McMichon of Shearious Salon, and Kevin Miralgia of Salon Skanda. The class also featured Philip Ring from Los Angeles who showed his pixelated hair coloring technique.

The class debuted a special ‘Learn Together’ segment in which Nick Arrojo picked an audience member and gave an impromptu one-on-one demonstration on razor cutting techniques.
