President/CEO of James Alan Salon & Spa and small business consultant/trainer with Northern Torch Consulting, Matthew began his career in the corporate world as a human resources professional.  After purchasing James Alan Salon & Spa in 1999, he quickly fell in love with the fashion industry.   Matthew has spent the majority of his adult life volunteering.  His first philanthropic leadership role was in the late 1980's as the Co-Chair for the Freedom Day Committee.  Since then, he has served as Board Chair for the Center for Human Services, the Dale Turner Family YMCA, and the Point Edwards HOA.   After being made aware of the horrors of sex trafficking by salon client (and now board member) Carol Korpi, he quickly realized he had to get involved.  He brings his passion for human rights, his leadership and his vision to the Board of the Justice & Soul Foundation.
