Guy Mascolo, one of the five Mascolo brothers whose work has redefined hairdressing for decades, died unexpectedly May 6.
Guy (Gaetano) and his brother Toni (Giuseppe) founded Toni & Guy in
London in 1963 while still in their teens. The successful hairdressing
company continued to grow, and brothers Bruno and Anthony came into the
business followed by Andrea who joined the company's U.S. division.
Toni & Guy opened salons in several fashionable London
neighborhoods and participated in hair shows around the world. In 1983,
Guy and Bruno moved to Dallas where they opened a U.S.salon division,
an academy and launched TIGI professional products.
Guy Mascolo's talents as a hairdresser were legendary and he also
expressed his enormous creativity as a musician, painter and cook. He
was known for his kindness and generosity.
In addition to his brothers, Mascolo is survived by his wife Flora,
daughters Emanuella and Zara, and sons Guy Junior and Zak, creative
director of Toni & Guy New York.
