Bringing a national trend to their town, Salon Art-Tiff started inviting dinner and dessert food trucks to park in their front yard one night a month from April to November. Not only did the salon’s clients come for a fun night out, but the trucks drew new clients in the door. Each month, the salon planned a promotion featuring a different department. For example, in April, they did complimentary chair massages outside with $10 off a massage appointment booked that night.

“Our marketing director spent each evening outside, talking to people about our business, handing out salon menus and giving salon tours,” Burkholder says. “We found out certain food trucks had loyal followings. It cost us nothing to host these events, and we were able to gain new clients and expose existing ones to new services.”
