Salon Today

October 2016

As stylists realize one of the keys to providing their best service to clients is to be healthy and strong themselves, salon owners are responding by making team wellness a management priority. For our special October issue, Salon Today partnered with Modern Salon’s Healthy Hairdresser Initiative to detail some voluntary, in-salon wellness, offer a checklist of action-oriented, wellness ideas owners can implement and even provide a list of portable protein snacks to help stylists refuel between clients. On the cover are Donna Huston and Denise Avallone, who challenged their team at Adagio for Hair in El Dorado Springs, CA, to adopt three healthy initiatives for three months.

Also in this issue, Salon Today readers help raise money for Beauty Changes Lives’ scholarships while sharing their words of wisdom through the ScholarTips campaign. And the trio of owners from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang demonstrate how their experience in managing rock and roll bands make them strong salon owners.

In this month’s Culture Corner, Gayle Fulbright and David Linde take a cue from Van Council and form a group of culture ambassadors for Headlines The Salon in Encinitas, CA. And, Personal Compass shines its spotlight on Planet Salon’s Ginger Boyle, who always is ready with an affirmation for young stylists or her Facebook followers.
