Salon Today

March 2016

In this special March issue, we’re celebrating the life of industry leader Jerry Gordon by sharing five of his greatest lessons from owning the successful J. Gordon Designs in Chicago, Illinois. From staying true to his vision to being a lifelong learner, Gordon’s lessons are lovingly conveyed by his wife Karen and son Tony.

We also take a fresh look at salon design by envisioning it through the mind of a consumer. Eurisko’s Leon Alexander takes us on a cerebral journey that reveals how salons can better meet the emotional needs of their clients. Then, we follow Karie Bennett and Rob Willis as they open a third Atelier location over a holiday weekend, including adopting an existing staff and converting them to a commission-based compensation system.

Finally, the International SalonSpa Business Network’s explores humanology with an exciting lineup of speakers for its upcoming conference, and we report on the success of Serious Business 2016.
