Gordon Salons’ successful Trashion Show fundraiser was supported by four months of advertising and planning and 24 strategic team meetings. Mirror talkers and posters helped inform the clients, and Constant Contact newsletters, neighborhood print ads and social media posts garnered community support. In addition to selling $40 tickets to the Trashion Show, stylists donated $10 to be able to wear jeans to work, and clients purchased raffle tickets to win a chance at three free haircuts. Local businesses and artists donated auction items for the event, and donations were solicited through crowdrise.com.

“The models for the show were local burlesque dancers who entertained the crowd with a family friendly act,” Tony Gordon says. “More than 50 pounds of recycled salon materials were fashioned into gowns and headpieces. And the event raised more than $15,000, which was donated to The Alliance for the Great Lakes.”
