Online For the Holiday: Share DIY Ideas Using Pinterest

Kelly Ehlers | December 3, 2012 | 12:20 PM

In honor of the season I am beginning a special Holiday-focused blog series in which I will give you three simple promotional ideas to implement this month on your salon’s social networks. The most exciting part of these ideas is that they only require a small amount of customization to make them your own!

We've already taken a look at building buzz and client loyalty, as well as making a difference in the community, now we will use one of our favorite platforms for a bit of virtual 'hide - n - seek.'

Since your clients will be upping the style-anty during the season and many will be turning to Pinterest to check out great DIY looks. Make sure your salon’s Pinterest is up to par by creating how-to boards within your account. Take advantage of your stylists knowledge by asking each of them to recreate a holiday look, snap a few photos and pin to your board.

And, for a little extra fun, hide a coupon in your holiday how-to style board to reward your clients for searching your looks.

Creating one of these  Pinterest boards will not create buzz alone. You must use your relationships with your clients to inform them about events and remind them to visit your social media accounts often!

All of these fabulous holiday ideas build on the foundation of the relationships you have with your clients inside the salon. Piggy-back on your already splendid customer service and help everyone remember that we are all just looking to feel beautiful this holiday season.

Stay tuned for the final post in the Holiday series where we’ll focus on Foursquare. And, remember, it’s the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ to create buzz through social media.
