On Sunday, April 28, over 70 top salons in the Greater Boston Area and beyond will participate in HAIRraising, an annual fundraiser that engages the local haircare business community for a worthy cause: 100% of the proceeds from haircuts on that day will benefit the Heart Center at Boston Children’s Hospital. Now in its tenth year, HAIRraising has raised over $1,400,000 thanks to the big-hearted salons who selflessly give their time to give hope to others.

New this year, the hospital and ColorWow will invite all participating salons to celebrate the 10th anniversary at a private event. HAIRraising founder Gail Federici, CEO of ColorWow, will host the evening and is bringing a special guest: Chris Appleton, celebrity hair stylist and recent winner of the Lori McCoy-Bell Hairstyling Award. Appleton will give a live styling demo at the event.

“We are very proud to reach the tenth year of HAIRraising,” Federici said. “But that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down. In fact, we’re extremely honored and excited to have Chris Appleton help make this the best year yet. And, of course, we’re most thankful to all the salons and stylists who participate, including some that have been with us every single year. It’s their generously donated time and resources that continue to make this a successful and meaningful fundraiser.”

Federici, whose daughter underwent two open-heart surgeries and participated in a clinical trial at Boston Children’s Hospital that saved her life, founded HAIRraising in 2009 with her business partner and hair legend John Frieda. They wanted to create an initiative bringing the beauty community and its clients together to support Boston Children’s Hospital.

Ranked the #1 pediatric hospital in the nation by US News & World Report, Boston Children’s Hospital is renowned for exceptional care and research and for achieving the best possible outcomes for every patient. The Heart Center’s unrivaled staff, treatments, resources, and results draw patients from all over the world.

The ask for Bostonians is simple: get a haircut on April 28 at a participating salon and support Boston Children’s Hospital’s life-changing work.
