The Event: Paul Mitchell’s Gathering brings together the John Paul Mitchell Systems (JPMS) tribe of salons and stylists. Held July 8-10, 2018 at the Aria Hotel Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, this year’s Gathering, as in year’s past, combined beauty, business, and bonding.

Onstage: Presentations to delight the senses, inspire creativity, and introduce new products and initiatives from Paul Mitchell filled the stages and classrooms. During the Opening Session, Michaeline DeJoria Heydari, vice chairman at John Paul Mitchell Systems, and her father, John Paul DeJoria, co-founder and chairman of the board of John Paul Mitchell Systems, welcomed attendees and reaffirmed their commitment to professional beauty and to the success of the hairdresser.

“We are always asking ourselves, what can we do better?” John Paul DeJoria says. “What can we do to make our company, our products, and our relationship with the hairdresser better for the next forty years…because I’m going to be around for a long time!”

In Class: 2018 marks twenty years of making the world more beautiful with Paul Mitchell Professional Color. Paul Mitchell Artistic Director of Color, Colin Caruso, taught salon friendly techniques to grow a color business and creative color placements for on-trend results.

New men’s brand MVRCK by MITCH was introduced in a barbering class taught by Jason Reyes and Fern Andong who walked through techniques and tools and the why behind them.

Antony Whitaker, author of the “Grow” series of salon success books, taught “How to Succeed in the Industry Today,” encouraging stylists to “take ownership of your productivity” and learn what it takes run a business.

Color Wins: The winners for the Paul Mitchell Color Outside the Lines competition, a hair color challenge held annually, were recognized onstage. They will also have the opportunity to be part of a Paul Mitchell collection shoot.
